USS LIBERTY -- November 1966

In those days of 1966, the big TRSSCOM satellite dish antenna was not yet installed on the fantail of the Liberty.

The fantail was well-used for volleyball games, but everyone's favorite were the cookouts that were held there.

The guys on the ship who could entertain did so, and got up and showed us that we did, indeed, have some talent aboard ship.

We just happen to have some old, old audio recordings of some of the goings-on in some .mp3 files here that you can play.

The audio tapes were recorded on November 25, 1966 with the Liberty off the west coast of Africa.

Bob Scarborough and his group, we think, consisting of Bob Ringe, Tom Thornton, Larry Goins and Phil Tiedtke.
Tom Thornton and Phil Tiedtke were killed in the Israeli attack in June 1967. If you can identify any of
the group, let me know and I'll update the page. Email: JGidusko@cfl.rr.com

Here's Hal Thompson and his guitar in 1966 messin' around with a multitrack and
multispeed tape recorder... and comes out sounding like Chet Atkins!
